Exhibition stand designs are constantly evolving, so what was once a must-have product may now be a thing of the past.
The reason for this is because trade show attendees are becoming increasingly difficult to engage using conventional displays alone, as these have become commonplace across the country.
However, there is a new range of display stands on the market looking to shake up the exhibiting status quo - enter fabric display stands.
This guide will provide a thorough insight into these innovative structures, and detail the displays available so you know exactly what to look for when choosing your display.
What is a fabric display stand?
Fabric display stands are an exhibition stand that can be used for promotional purposes in a wide range of spaces. They consist of a printed fabric graphic which slides over a lightweight aluminium frame.
These displays offer a unique twist on conventional exhibition stands, and are ideal for grabbing the attention of attendees. This means they are extremely effective at trade shows and exhibitions, as well as in a range of indoor promotional spaces such as shopping centres, hotel lobbies and networking events.

Why use fabric display stands?
Fabric displays offer a number of potential benefits over traditional trade show displays, and have been constructed to make your exhibiting life as convenient and rewarding as possible.
Despite being relatively small and lightweight to carry around, fabric display stands, once assembled, are a visually striking display due to their impressive stature, unique shape and highly vibrant printed graphics.
This is essential for the modern day exhibitor as capturing visitors' attention becomes ever more difficult.
Quick & Easy Assembly
Fabric displays are arguably more straightforward to assemble than traditional pop-up stands. This is because the frame is number co-ordinated, with each aluminium pole slotting into the corresponding number on the next pole. To complete assembly, the 'sock-like' fabric graphic is pulled over the frame and this is then zipped up to ensure tension is maintained.
Assembling a fabric stand takes only a matter of minutes, without the need for any tools, so you won't have to waste valuable time aligning clip-on graphics to your stand.
Trade show display systems are often susceptible to wear and tear after heavy usage. This normally affects the graphics but can also depreciate low-cost hardware.
Whilst the graphics on fabric displays can be damaged if not handled correctly, in general a fabric stand is a solid investment as the aluminium frame is sturdily built and should last for a number of years. What's more, the graphics are printed onto high-quality tension stretch material using the latest dye-sublimation printing process, so these displays will retain their visual appeal for years to come. Rather than buying a new stand every few years you can simply replace the graphics meaning your expense is far lower.
With the exception of fabric hanging structures, fabric display stands are extremely versatile to a number of display environments. This is because they are highly portable due to their lightweight frames and rapid build and break down times.
Fabric display stands are ideal for a business person that wants to arrive in a new location and have an eye-catching display ready in a matter of minutes.
So where can a fabric display stands be used? Here are some popular uses, although there’s always room for creativity!
- Networking events
- Trade shows
- Reception areas
- Shopping centres
- Shop windows
- Hotel lobbies
The materials used to make fabric displays are also eco-friendlier than standard pop-ups, as the frame and graphics are 100% recyclable.
Furthermore, the fabric graphic 'sock' is machine washable at 30 degrees, so you won't need to replace your graphics if you have any mishaps.
Buying eco-friendly products may not be on the top of your agenda, but taking into account that sourcing eco-friendly products increases brand trust for 9 in 10 consumers, this only stands to increase your value proposition.
Lots of choice
There is a wide range of fabric displays available to suit different needs and budgets. So if you require a fabric banner stand for your store, or a hanging structure to crown your exhibition stand, you're bound to find what you need with fabric displays.
With all this choice available, choosing which fabric stand suits your needs is the hardest part. Luckily for you, we have covered this in the section below to help you reach a conclusion.
If you require a display that is even more bespoke, there is also the option of custom made fabric displays, allowing you to create whatever size and shape of stand you require.
As these are made to order, make sure you don't leave your preparation until the last minute, or you may not get your stand in time for your event.
Types of fabric display stand
Fabric pop-up stands are an ideal solution if you are looking for a visually striking backdrop that is more streamlined than a traditional pop-up display. This stand can be used in a wide variety of spaces, but its most common habitat would be at exhibitions and trade shows, due to their size.
The frame, when collapsed, takes up a fraction of the finished size of the stand and can be transported easily in a carry bag provided along with the graphics.
Our range consist of numerous different fabric pop up stands, varying in size and shape. These are the Evolve Straight, Evolve Serpentine, Evolve Curved (featured), Evolve Monolith and the Evolve Tabletop. With sizes ranging from 0.6m wide to 6.1m wide, there is bound to be a fabric pop up display to suit your business' needs.
Fabric banner stands are equally as unique and attention-grabbing, due to their curvaceous designs. With each standing at over 2 metres tall, these stands will have a powerful presence in any trade show hall or promotional area.
These fabric banner stands epitomise what the Evolve range is all about - simplicity, portability and engagement.
Similarly to the fabric pop ups, the graphics are printed on polyester-based fabric using the latest dye-sublimation printing process, which can be easily replaced, and cleaned, meaning they are suitable for long-term use.
We have 3 different types of fabric banner stand available to chose from, which are the Evolve Snake (featured), Evolve Slant, and Evolve Curl, whilst the 0.6m wide Monolith is also classed as a banner stand.
Fabric counters provide a unique twist on conventional promotional counters, providing a more lightweight, portable display that is easy to assemble.
Promotional counters provide a point of first contact to welcome visitors to your stand and create that all important first impression. In addition to this, fabric counters provide a promotional space to present your marketing materials and product samples in an ultra-professional manner.
These counters are certainly not restricted to trade show environments alone, offering versatility to be used in all of the spaces listed earlier.
Lastly, we come to the Evolve Fabric HangPro range of hanging structures. This is primarily for larger exhibitors looking to add the pièce de résistance to their exhibition stand.
Fabric hanging structures are without doubt the best way to captivate an audience at an exhibition or in larger venues such as airports, shopping centres and more. This display will provide a focal point ensuring you have maximum visibility over other stands without taking up any of your valuable floor space.
The assembly process is exactly the same as the others listed above, however, it is recommended that you contact the event organiser prior to purchase to check their specific requirements for hanging structures.
The hanging structures available are the Evolve Circle Fabric HangPro, the Evolve Triangle Fabric HangPro (featured), and the Evolve Eye Fabric HangPro, with each offering different sizing options.
Designing a fabric display stand
You should think carefully about how to design a fabric display stand as most offer double-sided print as standard. Therefore, it is important to remember to include graphics on the back of your display in order to make the most of this feature.
With hanging structures, the print will be 360 deg so again this needs to be taken into consideration when designing your graphics. The inside of the display will not have print, and will be the same colour as the main fabric.

Looking after your fabric display
Despite being incredibly resilient to wear and tear, the printed fabric graphic sock can be damaged if not handled correctly. The fabric graphic is stretchy in nature, but if too much tension is placed on the material, the seams will begin to tear. In order to avoid this, ensure the stitching aligns with the frame, and is not pulled round on one side.
Traditionally, if a display obtained a dirty mark it would be rendered useless, however, the difference with fabric displays is that they can be washed as many times as you wish. Even if your graphics aren't visibly dirty, it's good practice to wash them every now and then to ensure they maintain their vibrancy.
The frame used to construct fabric displays is made from lightweight 32mm aluminium poles and as such, care should be taken when packing away and transporting as they can be bent if placed under excessive force.
